OPERATION SUNRISE

On the 10-year anniversary of Jutta’s passing, we are proud to launch Operation Sunrise — our most ambitious project yet: building a brand new kennel block for our beloved dogs.

This project marks a significant milestone in honouring Jutta’s legacy and ensuring we can continue offering a safe and loving space for every dog who needs us.

Why Do We Need a New Kennel Block?

Our current kennels were built over 30 years ago, long before Jutta and Terry took over. Though we’ve patched and repaired them over time, they’ve simply reached the end of the road. The roof can no longer be replaced, and further repairs just aren’t viable - financially or structurally.

Our dogs deserve the very best. Many of them come to us after being turned away by others. We never give up on them — and want to make their time with us as comfortable as possible, no matter how long they stay.

More Energy Efficient

The new building will be designed using modern, insulated materials, making it far more energy-efficient. This helps us reduce heating costs and our environmental footprint in the long term.

Improved Soundproofing

A quieter space helps dogs feel safer and more relaxed. Improved soundproofing also benefits our neighbours by reducing barking noise from the site.

Better Temperature Control

Unlike our current kennels, which struggle with extremes of heat and cold, the new block will offer better insulation and airflow — keeping our dogs warm in winter and cool in summer.

Separate Kitchen & Storage Access

A redesigned kitchen and storage layout will let staff enter the building to prepare food or gather supplies without walking through kennel areas — keeping stress levels low for the dogs.

Dedicated Isolation Kennels

We’ll include dedicated spaces for new arrivals and dogs recovering from illness or surgery. These isolation kennels allow us to provide appropriate care without risking the health or comfort of others.

Reduced Maintenance Time & Costs

Our current kennels require constant repairs, which takes time and money away from the dogs. A new, well-built structure will reduce wear and tear, giving us more time and resources for what really matters — their care.

How You Can Help

There are so many ways to support Operation Sunrise, whether by donating, fundraising, or simply spreading the word.

Our Journey: The Operation Sunrise Phases

Phase 1

Planning & Architecture

The first stage involves bringing in an architect to design the new kennels and manage the planning process.

Phase 2

Groundworks

Once planning is approved, we’ll clear the land, install drainage, and lay solid foundations. This essential groundwork prepares the site for full construction.

Phase 3

Construction

We’ll build the full structure, including walls, roofing, and internal spaces like the kitchen, storage, and isolation units.

Phase 1: Planning & Architecture

We’ve officially entered Phase 1, focusing on architectural design and planning submissions. Our architect has quoted £5,500 + VAT for this stage, and we’ve set an initial target of £5,000 + VAT, knowing there may be additional survey costs.

Any funds raised over our Phase 1 goal will roll into Phase 2, keeping the momentum going.

Stay in the Loop
We'll keep our JustGiving page updated with total donations across all platforms, so you can track our progress in real time.

Thank you for your continued support in making Operation Sunrise a reality.

Happy Tails

Reggie came into our care in 2021 when his owner sadly needed to rehome him. Reggie was living in Scotland and because he was dog reactive, finding a rescue space for him wasn’t easy, but his owner didn’t give up and kept on trying rescues further afield.  When we were contacted, luckily we had a…

Bear came into our care in 2023.  After being in our care for a while, we found out that Bear had spent a lot of time before coming to us living outside in a garden.  He was very under socialised and didn’t give off the best first impression to say the least.  He was a…
